Customising Pages - Introduction

Here is a step by step guide for basic customisation - how to make changes to an existing page (in this case a lead schedule) to add and extra step or hide and/or edit an existing step:

Open the templates tab and go to the template of the job you wish to change.

Select the "customise" icon at  the right end of the name box next to the date. The following dialog will open:

You may change the name, description and aim (which appears at the top of the control page) if you wish. You may also change the category that the job type appears under if you wish. "Hard references" indicates the new-style jobs with absolute referencing - we suggest you leave this ticked. Also leave period as annual as the other option disables the rollover function. You may also tick the "Disable Selection of Template" box to hide from staff selection until it is ready to be used - them untick and the new job type will be visible.

Save... it will now appear as a new job type marked as a "custom" job type.

Open the template and scroll through the index to the page you wish to change. In this case we will change page I1 in the Historical Financial Audits - Schools template.

Click on the page to open it and scroll to the work item you wish to edit.

First select "customise" from the bottom right corner:

This changed the look of the page for editing. Clicking the cross hides the item. Clicking the down arrow opens the item for customising. Showing here point 1.1 has been opened for editing:

Editing point 1.1 we can add an additional multi-choice option - in this case "See detailed workpaper". After saving there will now be three options in this multi-choice.

To add an additional step go to the bottom of the page and select "Add Step"

Create the step you wish to make, using the drop-down to specify the type of step if not a simple comment box. Most commonly you will choose a multi-choice or Yes/No response but there are many other options (the subject of future posts). Once you make the step you may drag it into the desired position on the page.

Finally when you are happy with the page, click Publish Changes at the top of the page. You may add comments as to what you have done on the page if you wish.

The custom job will then be available for new jobs, or you may switch existing jobs to this job type.
